INT. her story MONTAGE - DAY

Oluwatoyin is a first generation Nigerian American from the north side of Chicago. She’s a supervising TV producer, writer and independent filmmaker based in Los Angeles.

Her rich Nigerian culture and traditions influenced her storytelling from a young age. After graduating with a bachelors degree in Marketing and Public Relations, she worked as a Marketing Account Manager for a tech company in California. Corporate America proved to be unfulfilling to her creative journey, which led to her enrolling in a Media Management graduate program. After successfully defending her graduate thesis on the Nollywood film industry, Oluwatoyin moved across the country to fulfill her internship at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. Her recent work includes freelance producing in the heartbeat of the TV + film industry as she collaborates with like minded creatives on hit shows for a variety of networks and studios.

“Being behind the camera for the last 9 years has been an incredible blessing. As God enlarges my territory, I want to pour our stories, experiences and knowledge on good soil.”- Oluwatoyin Giwa

In 2020, Oluwatoyin founded her production company, ILE IFE Studios, a name derived from her Nigerian culture. ILE IFE Studios is a boutique creative house offering pre production to post production services for feature + short films, music videos, scripted + unscripted TV as well as content development.

As of May 2023, Oluwatoyin was accepted into the Television Academy and served as Senior Producer for the 2022 Emmy Winning Amazon Prime series, Lizzo’s Watchout for The Big Grrrls.

At Ile Ife Studios, our mission is to bridge the gap between the African diaspora + western culture highlighting our stories told by us.
